Fall 2008 Courses:

•Journalism 133: Editing and News Management. This is the required editing course for reporting/editing, magazine and photojournalism students. Two sections are offered this term, #40583, by Michael Stoll, mstoll@casa.sjsu.edu, and #45011, by me. We are team-teaching them at noon on Mondays and Wednesdays in DBH226.

•Journalism 61: Writing for Print, Electronic and Online Mesia. This is the required entry-level writing course for journalism and public relations students. And this section, No. 3 with course number 44887, is taught entirely online, using the Blackboard Learning Environment Web site. Students learn to write news stories for newspapers, online news sites, radio and TV stations and feature stories for magazines.

Professional Experience:

Reporter and editor at the San Jose Mercury News for 30 years (retired in 1999).
Lecturer at San José State University, part time from 1978 to 1999, then full time through Spring 2005, once again part time.
Lecturer at California State University, Hayward, part time from 1969 to 1979.
